Nick-toon

When I was younger, I had a subscription to Mad Magazine and that whole drawing style became something that I emulated during my elementary classes as opposed to paying attention. I hadn’t really thought about it in many years—I kind of forgot about Mad all together, until the other day. As it turns out, I am taking another interest in the style as well as trying to do Caricature drawings in general.

Here is Nick V.

The [ Team-Up ]

This is the first time that Nick and Jim had teamed up on anything. The project was to do an illustrated calendar with a theme—Jacksonville was chosen as the theme and below is what turned out.

Collaborative cover done, good luck trying to guess which one of us drew which things—we don’t even remember who did what on this page with 100% certainty.

My approach to the calendar was slightly different than Jim’s approach. For each month I based what I would draw on what happened that month and incorporate something from Jacksonville. For this month I put in the church from downtown.
